Synthetic filaments from plastic bottles and food containers

This relatively new company, just 2 years in existence, has paved the way for many brush manufacturers in outlying districts to produce their own synthetic filaments using the cleaned and processed granules of discarded plastic bottles and food containers. In countries where there is a mountain of discarded bottles and containers and a long lead time for quality synthetic filaments, it seemed opportune to solve both problems with one solution; the Fil 90 extrusion machine.

Over the past 15 years there has been a great deal of investment in the production of Polyester Resin for use in the manufacture of food and drink containers therefore, it is possible to reproduce 100% Polyester by extruding the cleaned polyester PET waste. The use of polyester for brooms and brushes and decorating brushes is sensible as it has a good elastic memory and will therefore, hold a better shape for longer.

The Fil 90, the latest, greatly improved, extrusion machine from Techno Plastic, can produce all synthetic filaments, Polyester, PET, PBT, Polypropylene, nylon 6, 6.6, 6.12 and polystyrene, with the exception of PVC using one operator only.

Its drying and dosing unit gives the recycled polyester PET flakes the correct degree of viscosity, which is crucial to obtain the highest mechanical properties to the broom and brush filaments. The high temperature attained and it’s computerised ability to monitor the quality of the filament at the point of extrusion, reduces the risk of error. The operator is constantly in full control of the quality throughout the line.

The Fil 90 is fitted with an automatic screen changer system, allowing the perfect extrusion of low cost recycled PET flakes, which can contain different kinds of impurities. By audio and visual alarm the operator can change one screen while the extruder continues to run, keeping a constant flow of production. As each screen is changed the pressure is kept constant with the aid of a pump. This ensures the same capacity per hour and constant high quality.

The extrusion head is large in diameter. The spinner heads can hold up to 1,500 capillaries of various shapes.

Computers control the entire procedure, recording the speed and temperature and parameters of the process for future analysis. The cooling, stretching and stabilising processes are extremely important and perfectly controlled in this line. With the optional pick up and packing machine this 30-meter versatile line can solve many problems.
