This year’s event had a special resonance for us all, as Paul Miller, who has organised the lunch for the past many years, was celebrating his return to health after a very nasty bout of throat cancer. Paul is one of the most popular and well liked guys in the Industry, and there was a splendid turn out of over 60 people, in mid winter Cleveland, to wish him well. A letter from Mark Godfrey, President of the ABMA, was read out congratulating Paul, and sending him the good wishes on behalf of the entire Industry. Bruce Gale, past president of the ABMA said a few words, then Carlos Petzold of Borghi USA, presented Paul with a great old photo of Paul in gunfighting mode, and Ian Moss (V.P. of the ABMA) made a short speech, recalling his friendship with Paul of over 35 years. He also read a letter from the Becks Brewery expressing their profound good wishes on his recovery. (See below). David Parr, The ABMA Executive Secretary also added his congratulations and reminded everyone of the up coming ABMA convention in Orlando in March. Finally Paul addressed everyone thanking them for the prayers and good wishes that he has received from far and wide in recent months, after which we all toasted his health. |
