Deburring is the process of removing of all material remains, so-called burrs, which are located on the detail edges remaining after various kinds of machining or from moulded pieces. The purpose of deburring is to remove the sharp edges which could cause body injuries and to improve the appearance. Burrs-free edges are necessary for proper application of coatings on the surface. Scraps, scales or sharp edges cause coating chipping as well as the problems connected with fitting and they are exposed to corrosion.

At present the lack of burrs in processed details is a standard and necessary requirement because various profiles, pipes and sheets with insufficient deburring are the reason of high costs resulting from complaints and disturbances in further production processes.

Brushing is one of the deburring methods. Deburring using high performance and efficient brushes allows to reduce the costs of deburring itself as well as the costs of further processing. High performance and efficient brushes differ from standard brushes in that they require the application of high quality wires of high tensile strength, higher peripheral speed, bigger outside diameters and excellent balance. High performance brushes are the tools for removing burrs mechanically with sharp ends of wires at a very high peripheral speed.

A high peripheral speed (up to 45 m/s) is needed to set the wires perpendicularly to the drive shaft. This ensures that only the ends of wires are in contact with machined metal, which guarantees the highest efficiency of work. High peripheral speed reduces the time needed to perform a given action, which increases significantly the efficiency of deburring. Short times needed to perform a given work using high performance brushes and cylindrical brushes are achieved due to a very high density of wires in these brushes. High performance brushes produced by Szczotpol are the tools worth their price. A very long operation life and invariably good and repetitive results of work confirm their maximal efficiency.
