Registration for the FEIBP’s Jubilee Congress 2018 in Bordeaux Now Open!

The European Brushware Federation (FEIBP) is holding its 60th Annual Congress in the elegant French city of Bordeaux this autumn, from 26 to 28 September 2018.

Situated on the banks of the winding Garonne river, the city has undergone 20 years of transformation and is now one the best-rated cities to visit in Europe.

Located on the banks of the Garonne, the 4-star Mercure Bordeaux Cité Mondiale Centre-Ville (not Mercure Château Chartrons) plays host to this year’s Congress. The rate for a standard room with twin beds is €139 per night, each with air conditioning, free WIFI, Taxes and charges included. Breakfast is an additional €16.50 per night.

Revised and updated Anniversary Book

On the occasion of the 50th FEIBP Congress held in 2008 in Marseille, a well-received Anniversary Book was published. Ten years later, the 60th Congress is the right moment to release a revised and updated version. Once again, Suzanna Acquaderni of SIT has kindly offered to co-ordinate this project.

The FEIBP Board warmly supports the initiative, but financial help is necessary. FEIBP members are asked to support this project with a donation of €250. Your company name and logo will be included in the Anniversary Book. The deadline for contributions is 30th May 2018.

St. Emilion Wine Tour – Wednesday 26th September 2018

Situated 35 kilometers to the east of Bordeaux is the famous wine village of St. Emilion; one of the most important red wine areas of Bordeaux. The FEIBP has organized an optional tour to this must-see-village, with a dive into its history and a visit to its most picturesque sites, galleries and underground caves. Lunch and a wine degustation are included in the trip.

Please do note that this voluntary tour is not part of the official Congress program and for this you will receive a separate invoice after registration. Costs are € 144 per person.

Saturday 29 September 2018: Trip to Le Bassin d’Archachon

For those Congress attendees who want to prolong their sojourn in Bordeaux after the congress, an optional trip to the The Bay of Archachon has been arranged. This is the largest natural bay in Europe and is the site of the famous Pylat dune which is the highest dune in the EU. A bus will bring us to this area in the morning hours and take participants on a trip that will take in the preserved natural beauty, charming villages, oyster farms and eating facilities of the area.

A boat will bring you from the city of Archachon to Cap- Ferret for oyster and wine tasting, with lunch at L’escale, the oldest restaurant of Cap-Ferret, returning to the hotel at around 16.30 hours.

A Brush Commemoration of The Great War / FFB Exposition At St. Felix (France)

To commemorate the fact that the Great War ended 100 years ago, our French colleagues from FFB assembled a wide variety of material, specifically focused on the equipment of any soldier at war.

All available sources were used for a very interesting exhibition at St.Felix in France: See the leaflet (link at the bottom of the article) and also a recently published article in Le Parisien. It is truly amazing how many brushes were instrumental for any soldier and an interesting aspect of this dramatic period in European history.
