Beautyworld Middle East to Celebrate Industry’s Finest at Inaugural Virtual Awards Week

Three-day digital programme to shine spotlight on companies, products and individuals propelling the beauty industry forward

A celebration of the Middle East beauty industry’s finest companies, products and individuals will be held virtually next week, as professionals bid farewell to a pandemic-affected 2020, and welcome a brighter 2021.

The inaugural Beautyworld Middle East Awards Week will be held virtually over three days from 13-15 December 2020, with thousands of viewers expected to pay tribute to the innovators, marketers, leaders, and game changers for their excellence, outstanding performance, vision and achievements across the industry and region.

A shortlist of 66 finalists from 280 entries will contest 13 categories, with the event comprising 45 minute videos streamed daily across dedicated themes; day one for Marketing & Innovation, day two for exceptional products, and day three for Game Changers.

Interspersed within the programme are daily presentations and opinion pieces from experts sharing their vision and trends shaping the industry’s future in a post-pandemic world.

The virtual programme is hosted by Messe Frankfurt Middle East, the organiser of Beautyworld Middle East, the region’s largest international exhibition for beauty products, hair care, fragrances, and wellbeing.

“This year has been a very challenging, but the beauty industry has showed its resilience in these extraordinary times,” said Elaine O’Connell, Beautyworld Middle East’s Show Director.

“The inaugural Beautyworld Middle East Awards were originally designed to take place as a glittering gala dinner ceremony in Dubai, but this plan, like so many others in 2020, was not possible.

“It was still very important for us to give something back to our community this year.  We wanted to recognise all those who firstly nominated their products, companies, or campaigns for this inaugural awards programme in 2020.  And of course to honour and celebrate the finalists and eventual winners.

Added O’Connell: “This virtual programme allows us to do this, and in many ways underlines just how adaptable the beauty industry is.  It is able to flourish and thrive, even in the most trying and testing circumstances.”

The Beautyworld Middle East Awards Week opens curtains with Day One celebrations starting at 3pm GST (Gulf Standard Time) on Sunday 13th December 2020.  The following two daily video streams start at the same time, with curtains coming down on 15th December.  The awards’ shortlist and detailed programme can be viewed on Beuatyworld Middle East’s website.

Beautyworld Middle East meanwhile will take place as an autumn show from 2021 onwards, with the 25th edition set to take place from 5-7 October 2021 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

It will cover the six product groups of Hair, Nails, and Salon Suppliers; Cosmetics and Skincare; Personal Care and Hygiene; Machinery, Packaging, Raw Materials, and Contract Manufacturing; Fragrance Compounds and Finished Fragrances; and Natural and Organic.

The three-day event in 2019 set new records, attracting 44,256 visitors from 150-plus countries, a 20 percent increase over the previous year.  In its 24th edition, Beautyworld Middle East 2019 also featured 1,790 exhibitors from 66 countries spanning 62,000sqm of exhibition space.
