20th UK Brushmakers and Suppliers Golf Day

Monday 13th June marked the 20th anniversary of the UK Brushmakers and Suppliers golf day, held again at Kings Norton Golf Club in the West Midlands.

After a brief warm up consisting of a bacon roll and a cup of coffee, 9 competitors set off in typical British summertime conditions (rain) for the morning 9 hole event played on the Brockhill course. The winner of the Bristle and Hair Cup was Steve Stacey ex of Koti-Dawson Ltd with a creditable 17 points off a handicap of 10. 2nd place went to Frank Graham with 15 points.

After an informal lunch in the clubhouse, the weather dried up and 14 players set out to compete over the challenging 18 hole Weatheroak layout for a variety of prizes.

The victory spoils went to organiser John Bennett, ex of Dawson & Son Ltd with 37 stableford points off a handicap of 12 clinching the Herbert Samuel Memorial Cup. Second place went to Will Green of Bristle Hair and Fibre Limited with 33 points.

The High Handicap Trophy (hcp 20 and over) also went to Will Green. The Team Trophy (best 2 scores per team) was won by Frank Graham, Will Green and Richard Morgan. Other prizes included Nearest to the Pin on the 17th hole, won by Philip Coward of The Hill Brush Company and Longest Drive on the par 4 8th hole, won by Steve Stacey.

After a short prize presentation and swapped stories of missed putts, great shots and what might have been, the vast majority of competitors made the short drive to The Abbey Hotel in Beoley for an enjoyable dinner and the chance to catch up with industry colleagues and old friends.
