Rothlaender & Co. GmbH Honoured with the Helga Stödter Award 2025 for Promoting Women in Leadership

The Hamburg-based trading house Rothlaender & Co. GmbH has been awarded the Helga Stödter Prize 2025 by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce for its exemplary commitment to equality and shared leadership in family business. The prize is one of the most important prizes of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Founded in 1865, Rothlaender looks back on 160 years of history in international trade with Asia. Today, the company is jointly managed by Caroline L. Schroth and her father Karl-Ernst Rothlaender, representing the fifth generation. This intergenerational leadership model is built on trust, openness, and modern working practices.

Flexible working hours, shared leadership responsibilities, and inclusive employment models demonstrate that equality and participation can be successfully lived in medium-sized enterprises. Rothlaender stands for long-term partnerships, responsible succession, and a culture that bridges tradition and transformation.

The Helga Stödter Award, presented annually by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Helga Stödter Foundation – Women for Leadership Positions, recognises organisations that actively strengthen women in leadership and embed mixed leadership in their corporate culture.

“We are deeply honoured by this recognition,” says Caroline L. Schroth, Managing Partner of Rothlaender & Co. GmbH. “This award encourages us to continue building bridges – between generations, family and business, and between values and value creation.”
