Haviland Corporation: A New Line of Defence Against Bacteria

Squeegees for Hygienic Cleaning

In 2017, there were more than 685 million global cases of the norovirus reported. This total does not include any other type of bacterial infections such as MRSA.  To make matters worse, cleaning equipment/tools have been shown to be a major source of cross-contamination. Haviland Corporation has spent years studying, testing, and developing tools to combat cross-contamination and the growth of harmful bacteria.

Haviland Corporation developed the Microbe Spiker family of tools to effectively reduce the spread of antimicrobials.  The family of tools include a floor squeegee, a hand held squeegee, and a swipe. How it works is the Microbe Spiker is foam product that is embedded with an antimicrobial agent.  This agent will work for the life of the unit to reduce cross-contamination and destroy up to 99.9% of microbes on wet or dry surfaces.  Throughout the foam are millions of microscopic nanospikes that attract and attack microbes by a physical means.  Microbes are rendered nonviable and unable to reproduce.  The antimicrobial agent was tested to ASTM-E-2149-01 standards and is registered with the EPA and accepted by the USDA. See link to Microbe Spiker Flyer at the bottom of this article.

Haviland Corporation’s Easy Clean squeegee is designed with hygiene in mind.  This duo-extruded squeegee is composed of raw material that is FDA approved and available in six HACCP colors to prevent cross-contamination.  The special extrusion creates a strong bond between the blade and frame.  Available with or without a socket, gives this product versatility for use on just about any surface and it is dishwasher safe.

Taking a proactive position in developing and manufacturing products that create a safe and economical way to clean continues to be a priority at Haviland Corporation.
