Yangzhou Jingdu Brush Co Ltd: Reporting on the Different Properties of JD SMART 2 and JD SMART 2B Filaments
Yangzhou Jingdu Brush Co Ltd of China has conducted a study to compare the different properties of its JD SMART 2 (60% tops) and JD SMART 2B (90% tops) filaments. The experiment as outlined below was commissioned to explore the absorption and release of paint.
Method:
- Make 2 paint brushes using the two different types of JD bristles, each constructed the same length, same handle, same ferrule etc.
- Weigh the brushes
- Put them in the water-based paint for 3 minutes
- Take out them until there are no paint drips and weight the paint brush
- Paint on the gypsum board until no longer smooth
- Weight the paint brush again
First Step: Weight the paint brushes – See weights of each brush filled with the different filling materials on each picture below
Second Step: Put them in the water-based paint for 3 minutes, take out them until there are no paint drips and weight the paint brush – See weights on each picture below
Third Step: Paint on the Gypsum board until no longer smooth. Weight the paint brush again – See weights on each picture below
Fourth Step: Measure the length of paint distribution on the Gypsum board – see values on pictures

Conclusions:
- In terms of the absorption and release of the paint, JD SMART 2B (90% tops) filaments are better than JD SMART 2 (60% tops) filaments
- JD SMART 2B (90% tops) painted further than JD SMART 2 (60% tops）
- JD SMART 2 (60% tops) would release more paint in the same area and more smoothly.
- JD SMART 2 is a darker green than JD SMART 2B which means more paint was released over a same-sized length.
