Visitors to the show will have the chance to sit in on some great talks in the Spotlight Theatres, including these practical and informative presentations:

Legal pitfalls and how to avoid them

Markel will be offering two presentations. On Tuesday 19 November, Senior Associate Robert Dempsey will present ‘Navigating the employment law minefield’, covering how to identify and overcome key problems in hiring and dismissing staff. Then on Wednesday, Edward Pearce presents ‘Contract solutions for small businesses under a Labour government’, covering employment contract issues likely to impact painters and decorators, and the implications of proposed changes to the law.

Does going green make commercial sense?

Can ‘Going Green’ be a commercially sensible business choice for a real-world decorator? Mat Marek of Groni Ecological Decorators will be explaining how embracing the green agenda works for him and how other professionals could mirror his approach.

Ladders – What are you buying?

In today’s on-demand market, where in one click you can order just about anything you want online, how can tradespeople be sure the ladders they’re buying are made properly and are safe to use? Francis Camilleri of the Ladder Association delves into the latest research about the real and serious issue of substandard and potentially dangerous ladders.
