PLMA’s 2018 New Product Expo Puts Spotlight on Innovation


The 21st edition of PLMA’s New Product Expo will be presented during the upcoming “World of Private Label” International Trade Show, which will take place 29-30 May at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam.

More than 600 private label products and packaging were submitted by exhibitors and selected for the programme based on their level of newness and innovation. These products will be on display in the Idea Supermarket area in the Elicium Hall during trade show hours.

New Product Expo was created to help retailers find innovative products without having to walk kilometres of trade show floor. Twenty-one years later, the programme has become an extremely powerful tool in the hands of retailers not only to spot innovative products, but also to concretely recognize new trends and consumer behaviours.

These trends have been classified in nine distinctive categories: New for Private Label, New Ideas in Convenience, New Ideas in Marketing, New Organic and Natural Products, New Product Concepts, New Scents, Flavours, Recipes and Product Composition, Premium for Private Label, New Environmentally Friendly Products, New Wellness and Health Related Products.

This year’s biggest category is New Scents, Flavours, Recipes and Product Composition, followed by New Ideas in Convenience and New Ideas in Marketing. The majority of the selected products can be found in the fresh/frozen, snacks and shelf stable fields. Italy, Germany and The Netherlands are the countries with the highest amount of selected products.

In addition to display at the show, PLMA is launching for the first time this year New Product Expo Online, which features a selection of the newest and most innovative products available on the market today. The selected products are promoted online and can be seen by retailers prior to the show and throughout the year.
