Hairdressing icon Andrew Collinge dropped by the Denman stand at Salon International last month to be met with a surprise presentation from Denman Chairman Dr John Rainey MBE. The Dr John Rainey MBE Award is a solid silver medallion presented to individuals that have made a long-standing contribution to the Denman brand. The design was executed by the chief engraver of the Royal Mint and carries the Latin motto ‘quaerite verum’ which means ‘seek the truth’. The medallion has previously been awarded to award winning hair professional Paul Stafford.

Dr John Rainey said “Andrew and I have known each other for the best part of 50 years. Andrew’s father Peter was the very first hairdresser to demonstrate on our tiny Denman stand at the inaugural Salon International exhibition at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. Denman worked closely with Andrew through the decades and he and I became very close friends, often meeting socially. One of my fondest memories is from a Japanese hairdressing tour in the 1980’s when I found myself in a Tokyo hotel room at 2am attempting to help prepare models for the following day’s show! Andrew’s talents and loyalty to our brand have been so appreciated and this Award is a small recognition of that.”

Andrew said “I am very proud to receive this award and I’m also very proud to have worked with Denman for many, many years. It is a brand that is synonymous with the very best of British hairdressing.”
