In demanding industrial environments, standard nylon or polypropylene brush filaments simply cannot keep up. High temperatures melt them. Harsh chemicals degrade them. Continuous mechanical stress causes them to fail prematurely. This is where PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) brush filaments excel—delivering performance that ordinary materials cannot match.

PEEK is a high-performance specialty engineering plastic that has become the material of choice for extreme brushing applications. PEEK brush filaments are manufactured from polyetheretherketone, a semi-crystalline thermoplastic known for its exceptional combination of thermal stability, chemical resistance, and mechanical strength.

According to technical specifications from PEEK filament manufacturers, the material density is approximately 1.30 g/cm³ with a melting point around 340°C . Available diameters typically range from 0.08mm to 1.20mm, with standard cut lengths of 1220±10mm, making them suitable for a wide variety of industrial brush designs.

PEEK filaments can operate continuously at 250°C and withstand short-term exposure up to 300°C. This far exceeds the temperature tolerance of nylon or polypropylene, which soften or melt at much lower temperatures. For applications involving high-temperature cleaning, hot material handling, or processes near heat sources, PEEK filaments maintain their structural integrity when other materials fail.

PEEK resists attack from most chemicals, including strong acids, strong bases, and aggressive organic solvents. It is stable in environments that would quickly degrade other filament materials. The material is also resistant to hydrolysis, maintaining its properties even in wet or steam-exposed conditions.

PEEK filaments offer high mechanical strength, fatigue resistance, and excellent dimensional stability. Unlike conventional brush filaments that deform under pressure or high-speed operation, PEEK maintains its shape and performance. The material also exhibits low moisture absorption (typically <1%), ensuring consistent performance in humid environments.

PEEK is inherently flame retardant, achieving a UL94 V-0 rating without the need for flame-retardant additives. This is particularly valuable in industrial environments where fire safety is a concern, such as applications involving static electricity or combustible dust.

PEEK filaments can meet FDA food contact standards and EU 10/2011 compliance, making them suitable for food processing and pharmaceutical applications. The material does not shed fibers or introduce contaminants, ensuring cleanliness in sensitive production environments.
