International Hardware and Tools Brands Target Middle East Market

International hardware and tools manufacturers are targeting the Middle East market, given the continued surge in spending on infrastructure building and construction across the region.

According to MEED Projects, the forecast for infrastructure and construction projects planned and underway in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) alone was US$172 billion in 2015 – the highest amount to date, notwithstanding the downward trajectory of oil prices.

The accompanying rise in demand for hardware, tools and machinery make the region a highly attractive target for global suppliers, of which more than 200 from 11 countries will take centre-stage at the upcoming Hardware+Tools Middle East 2016 trade show.

“Despite the slowdown in construction in many parts of the world, the Middle East region’s continued growth trend makes it a significant market for the hardware and tools industry,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East, the organiser of Hardware+Tools Middle East 2016, which takes place from 23-25 May at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“As a result, there is considerable interest at Hardware+Tools Middle East by a variety of manufacturers looking to establish themselves and increase their footprint across this high-spending marketplace.”

Among the international brands out in force at Hardware+Tools Middle East 2016 is Germany company Wiha, the world’s first hand tool manufacturer to be awarded the AGR (Action for Healthier Backs) seal of distinction for their ergonomic tools.

A debut exhibitor at Hardware+Tools Middle East 2016, Wiha is looking to make its first appearance a memorable one with a vast range of 3,500 premium tools, including screwdrivers, L-keys, bits, softhead hammers, pliers, measuring tools and articulated hoses.

Ronny Lindskog, Managing Director and Head of European Sales and Global Marketing at Wiha, said the aim is to ensure more comfortable, longer and above all pain-free work for users of Wiha tools.

“We are probably the largest manufacturer of screwdrivers in the premium segment,” said Lindskog.  “We are determined to continue our success as a premium hand tool manufacturer.  The quality of our products and our employees’ loyalty have been our driving forces throughout our history and we’re going to tackle continuous expansion.”

Returning to Hardware+Tools Middle East as a Silver Sponsor in 2016 is Italian company VIPA, a leading manufacturer of plastic bins and plastic storing solutions for hardware stores and industrial warehouses. The company specialises in the design and construction of moulds for plastic items as well as in the injection moulding of thermoplastic resins.

“VIPA is expanding its business abroad and the Middle East is very interesting for us,” said Vittorio Pasquini, VIPA’s CEO and Founder.  “We want to find importers and distributors for our items, as well as spread our brand’s footprint across the region.

“Approximately 60 per cent of VIPA’s turnover comes from exports all over Europe, where we’re recognised as a main brand for quality, price, and customer service.  We want to expand our business in the Middle East with the same volume we reach in Europe,” added Pasquini.

Also keen to get into the regional market are Asian players, spearheaded by Korean water pump manufacturer Dukshin, and Polawat Engine from Thailand – a manufacturer of diesel and gas power generators, water pumps, power sprayers, and brush cutters.

Hardware+Tools Middle East is a magnet for trade buyers from across the Middle East and North Africa, including distributors, retailers, exporters, importers, contractors, fabricators, consultants and industry professionals involved in the construction and industrial sectors.

The 17th edition will feature Country Pavilions from China, Thailand and Taiwan, and will host more than 200 exhibitors from 11 countries representing over 300 brands. The exhibition will also feature the Expert Zone, a dedicated section featuring the most innovative products and solutions from leading manufacturers.
