Discover El Yunque National Forest
Wednesday, March 25, 2026, 12-5pm
Located in Puerto Rico's Northeast Region, El Yunque National Forest is the only tropical rainforest within the national forest system of the United States. It extends through eight municipalities: Río Grande, Luquillo, Canóvanas, Fajardo, Naguabo, Ceiba, Las Piedras and Juncos. Join in the adventure: Wednesday, March 25, 2026, 12-5pm.
At nearly 29,000 acres, it is one of the smallest in size, yet one of the most biologically diverse. In fact, there are as many tree species at El Yunque — about 250 different types of trees — as on all the 192 million acres of other national forests combined.
A rich variety of aquatic life is found in the area's many streams, which provide a valuable water source for thousands of Puerto Rican residents. The area contains 50 varieties of orchids and more than 150 species of ferns and is home to eight federally listed endangered plants and 30 sensitive plant species. The area is also rich in wildlife. It is occupied by 42 year-round species of birds and is of great importance to at least 35 neotropical migratory bird species including the Peregrine Falcon, Merlin and the Black-throated Blue Warbler.
Join in an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience in the company of an expert local guide. Slide down the incredible 20-foot natural water slide, swing from the rope like Tarzan into the natural pool, jump over cliffs at different heights, and discover wonderful secret waterfalls while exploring the tropical jungle landscape.
