FEIBP Annual Congress 2024 – Team Building Activities

For the 64th Annual Congress, delegates and partners were treated to a choice of not-one-but- two team building activities, each with their own unique appeal, with one group participating in beach team sports that took place on the beach in front of the hotel and the other making cocktails on the hotel’s exterior beachfront terrace.

Cocktail Making

Gathering under the sun in the spectacular outdoor area of the hotel’s property, a group of enthusiastic budding mixologists learned the basics of making a good cocktail under expert tutelage. Together, participants learned the principles of blending, cooling, shaking, spritzing, garnishing and pouring with flair, and even how to develop a foam from egg white for a classic pisco sour.

After this, the group was split into teams, with each team being challenged to come up with a martini-style original concoction as well as one longer, highball drink. With a wide selection of sprits, mixers, juices, sprays, essences and final flourishes to choose from, everyone entered into the competition with as much gusto as you would expect from a group of thirsty brush makers! This involved a lot of “general tasting” of each component to ensure careful selection of the ingredients for the final versions.

Once happy with the finished articles, the cocktails were brought forward to be judged, with one clear winning team stealing the show with their impressive, creative skills. This concluded the end of an afternoon of friendly rivalry, sometimes hilarious banter and learning important new skills.

Beach Sports

Around 50 spirited Congress delegates and their partners assembled for the exhilarating Beach Sports teambuilding event, with participants split into 6 teams, marked out by different coloured armbands.

A total of 4 different events formed the basis of the competition, with the different teams pitched against each other. These included:

Simulating saving a person from the sea - This involved pairs of swimmers going out to help the “drowning” individual, putting a life ring around the person and guiding them back to shore, with the rest of the team pulling the person on a rope.
Stand up paddle board race - with the whole team on the SUP at the same time.
On-land skiing – 4 people standing on two parallel planks and walking together as a team in a relay.
Walking the plank on land –involving 2 people per team moving planks from one end of the course to the other.

These fun team exercises focused on building deeper connections and fostering teamwork and, similar to its cocktail-making counterpart, was a big hit!

Next year’s Congress will be held from 08 to 10 October 2025 in Ischia, Italy and promises to be even better yet. Reserve your space today.
