1. Opening

Christopher Boomer welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the FEIBP Working Group Personal Care. He express the aim of the first meeting was to gather information and ideas to build up the scope and to define areas of specific interest for this Working Group

Christopher Boomer (Denroy Plastics, UK), was proposed as chairman and this was not challenged.

2. Introductions

It was highlighted that the attendance was very strong for the first WG meeting with 12 attendees in total

• 4 from 3 different manufactures

• 5 from 6 different suppliers

• 3 from 3 different press outlets

Main points from the introductions around the room

• Work collaboratively to bring work back from china

• Check on quality

• Promote more involvement within the Personal Care Sector.

• The supplier see personal care as a very important sector to their businesses and want to see stronger representation at the FEIBP.

• Interest in what this new working group could be.

3. Scope Working Group Personal Care

• What kind of products are to be regarded as personal care brushware products

o There were many brushes discussed which could be classed as personal care brush, with a list being produced from this. It was decided for Chris and Peter would finalize a list of what should be included in personal care. It was broadly agreed that a brush primary function would have to be used on the human body but invasive medical brushes would be exempted for now.

• What is the quality level of these products (high end?)

o To be discussed at later date when working group has more members

• Are the products manufactured in Europe?

o The members of the working group would have to be FEIBP members and comply with FEIBP criteria

• Materials used (suppliers information)

o To be discussed at later date when working group has more members

• Number of manufacturers of personal care products in and outside FEIBP

o Current members within the FEIBP who would have products classed in the working group, would be contacted informing them of the new working group.

o It is acknowledged that there are many manufactures outside the FEIBP who could join. Josie of Brush Expert inform that a compressive list of brush manufactures was on their website. This will form the basis of a list which will be distributed to all attendees of the working group (particularly the suppliers) to add any others missing.

• How do we identify manufactures in Europe to encourage to join the FEIBP and working group?

o It was agreed that after the above list was produced all would be contacted. The 10 reason to join the FEIBP would be sent along with a specific reasons list to join Personal Care working group.

o It was also suggested to hold an event at Cosmoprof in Bologna which is Europe largest professional beauty sector event.

• What are the current threats to this sector?

o To be discussed at a later date

• What are the current opportunities to this sector were the working group could play a role?

o To be discussed at a later date

• Setup Website for personal care area

o Add list of supplier to person care on this platform

o Look at translation of the Working groups name on the website

• Circulate list of manufactures to all present suppliers to see if any more can be added
